Before 120VC, I was a Navy Rescue Swimmer. My job was jumping into open water to bring people home. I carried that instinct into twenty-five years inside enterprise leadership teams at Sony, AT&T, Blizzard, and Trader Joe’s, building a reputation for walking into chaos and creating order.
I was good at it. I was also part of the problem.
Every time I stepped in and rescued a stalled initiative, I taught the organization that progress depends on being rescued. It took years to stop asking “how do I step in faster” and start asking a different question.
This book is that question, and everything that came from asking it.
